What we teach in Zabava Dance School

For students aged 5 and up, we offer a variety of classes ranging from 1 to 12 sessions per week: Stretching and Acrobatics classes, Spins and Jumps, as well as the study of traditional and non-traditional dance Techniques and Combinations.

The dance styles we teach are Ballet, Jazz, Liriques, Hip Hop, Jass Funk and Contemporary. These incredibly beautiful styles combine multiple directions and disciplines, offering students diverse opportunities for creativity and development.

JAZZ

An energetic dance style that incorporates various forms of contemporary music. Jazz includes several sub-styles, such as modern jazz, Broadway jazz, street jazz, and more. Jazz dance is always characterized by dynamic movements and expression. Sharpness, strength, control, flexibility, and stretching are essential, all of which our dancers will develop in our Technique and Stretching classes. Additionally, our Acrobatics class will help create unique visual effects and wow the audience.

CONTEMPORARY

A modern dance style that offers dancers the freedom of expression and experimentation. While Contemporary is the complete opposite of ballet, some ballet skills can be a valuable addition to enhancing a dancer’s performance level. To support this, we offer a Spins and Jumps class, which is crucial for both Contemporary and Jazz. This class helps dancers achieve grace, lightness, and control in executing complex elements and tricks.

Ballet

Ballet classes introduce students to the foundation of all dance styles. Ballet develops a dancer’s strength, precision, and grace through structured techniques and exercises. In ballet, the focus is on building balance, poise, and control, which are essential skills for all dancers. Through our classes, students will learn classical positions, movements, and combinations, helping them achieve fluidity and finesse in their performances.

Modern

Modern dance encourages creative expression and often breaks traditional dance rules. This style explores movements based on raw emotion, individuality, and storytelling. In our Modern dance classes, students will learn techniques that emphasize grounded movements, release, and flow. They will explore concepts like weight sharing, contraction, and improvisation, helping them develop a unique movement style.

Hip hop

Hip Hop at Zabava Dance School is all about rhythm, style, and self-expression. This energetic dance style draws inspiration from street culture and focuses on beats and musicality. Our classes cover foundational Hip Hop moves and encourage students to create their own flair. With a mix of freestyle elements and structured choreography, students will build confidence, agility, and rhythm, perfect for expressing their personalities on the dance floor.

Jazz-funk

Jazz-Funk is a vibrant fusion of jazz and Hip Hop that brings a fierce attitude to the dance floor. This style combines sharp movements with smooth transitions, making it a favorite for students who enjoy energetic routines. In our Jazz-Funk classes, students will learn strong movements, isolations, and expressions, blending jazz technique with the boldness of street dance. It’s a dynamic style that enhances musicality and showmanship, perfect for dancers looking to bring both style and power to their performances.

Dance Competitions

The Zabava Dance School participates in regional competitions 2 to 6 times a year.

Competitions provide children with the opportunity to showcase their achievements and skills, compare their level with other dancers, and receive feedback from experienced judges. This encourages children to work on themselves and improve their technical abilities.

Competitions also teach children how to handle competition, discipline, goal-setting, and the pursuit of success. Additionally, they can be a source of inspiration and motivation for further creative development.

Participation in competitions is not a mandatory part of our school’s curriculum. However, if you want your child to shine on a big stage, please let us know. We will provide you with the participation rules and offer options for scheduling competitive development classes for your child.
