Zabava School was born out of a passion for the arts and a desire to provide a nurturing environment where children can flourish. With a name that translates to “fun” or “celebration,” Zabava School embodies the joy and excitement of discovering one’s artistic voice. From our humble beginnings, we have grown into a vibrant performing arts school offering a wide range of classes, from ballet and hip hop to voice, piano, and acrobatics.

What started as a small vision has blossomed into a creative hub, where students are encouraged to express themselves through movement and music. Over the years, we’ve watched our students not only master new skills but also develop confidence, discipline, and a love for the arts that will stay with them for life.

Welcome to Zabava School of Performance Art! We’re delighted you’ve chosen us for your dance journey. Below is everything you need to know before your first class:

How to Enroll

Registration Fee

A one-time $20 registration fee is required.

Payment Options

Choose from:
Competitive Group: Monthly package
4 consecutive weeks package
Single Day Pass
Single Class

  • All classes require prepayment, and payments are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Missed Classes & Makeup Policy

Missed classes from the Monthly Package cannot be carried over, as the package is offered at a discount.

Notify us via SMS at least one day (24 hours) in advance to arrange a makeup class.

Makeup classes must be used within the current month and scheduled in advance.

Classes falling on public holidays cannot be made up.

Attendance Policy

Arrival

Please bring students 5-7 minutes before class, but not earlier; as the doors are closed for safety reasons.

Parents

We kindly ask that parents remain outside the classroom to minimize distractions, except during Open Lessons.

Late Pickup

A late fee of $1 per minute will apply if pickup is delayed beyond 10 minutes after class. The school is not responsible for children after the class ends.

Adherence to these rules may result in the refusal of further services.

FAQs

We offer a wide range of styles including jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and ballroom for all levels. Beginners are welcome! Our classes are designed to be supportive and fun for newcomers.

Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows you to move freely. Depending on the dance style, you may need specific footwear, like sneakers for hip-hop. Check with us if you’re unsure!

Yes, we do! New students can try a class before committing to a full course. This is a great way to see if Zabava School is the right fit for you.
We offer classes for age groups 3-17, from young children to teenagers. Our programs are designed to provide a fun and educational experience for every dancer, no matter their skill.
Yes! We offer private lessons for personalized instruction and also rent out our studio for rehearsals, events, and other bookings. Contact us for availability and pricing.

RACHEL HART

Dance Instructor & Performer

Rachel began her dance education at the age of 3 at a ballet school in Beloit, Wisconsin. At age 10, she transitioned to a competitive dance studio, where she trained intensively in a wide variety of styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, Clogging, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater.

From ages 10 to 18, Rachel competed in numerous regional and national competitions and attended prestigious workshops and conventions such as NYCDA and Dupree Dance. These opportunities allowed her to train under renowned master instructors and broaden her technique and performance experience.

At 17, she began co-teaching at her home studio, marking the start of her teaching career. While attending Rockford University, Rachel performed with the university’s dance company, continuing her development as both a performer and educator.

Rachel is passionate about ongoing education in dance and continues to take classes to refine her skills and stay current with industry trends.

Oksana

Oksana

Oksana is a highly experienced elementary school teacher with over two decades of dedication to educating young minds. Specializing in Russian language, mathematics, arts and crafts, and various other subjects, she has a proven track record of success in helping children learn quickly and effectively.

Oksana has developed innovative teaching methods that engage students and foster a love for learning. Her students consistently demonstrate exceptional progress in their Russian language skills, often achieving remarkable fluency in a short period. Oksana’s approach is characterized by her creativitygoal-oriented mindset, and deep passion for teaching. She creates a nurturing environment where children feel valued and inspired to explore their potential. Her ability to connect with students not only enhances their learning experience but also builds strong, positive relationships.

Outside the classroom, Oksana is a devoted family woman, married with a daughter. Her commitment to education and her students shines through in everything she does, making her an invaluable asset to the ‘Zabava’ community.

NONA ZEKS

Nona Zeks is a certified piano and vocal teacher, accompanist with 50 years of experience. During this period she was directing jazz groups and theater studios for children and adults.

As an accompanist she worked with students at Chicago North Western University, adheres to classical teaching methods, as a performer plays soft jazz standarts. Working with all ages and levels.

FLORENCIA WONG

Professional Dance teacher, choreographer, designer and curator.

Experience teaching pupils from 4 years old and up.

Techniques: Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contempo, Creative Movement, and Lyric Dance.

I started in a formal Ballet School in Guatemala City, after my training as a student I formed part of the National Ballet and the Modern and Folkloric Company of Guatemala.  I had scholarship to train in Vaganova method, RAD, Graham, Limon techniques in different countries in North, Caribbean and Central America.

I had the opportunity to work for opera showcase with the director S. Poda from Italy, Choreographer Brydon Paige from Canada, invited as a guest dancer for Compania Nacional de Danza de Argentina, and Ballet Nacional de El Salvador.

Interpreter of classical repertoire Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Coppelia, Carmina Burana, Giselle among other choreographies.

Teresa Hoibye

Dance Instructor & Performer

Terese Hoibye has been teaching Ballet for children and adults for over 15 years inNorway, New York and San Francisco/Bay Area. 

She performed at the National Theatre in Oslo, on Norwegian National Television, the Fringe Festival in Edinburg in addition to dancing with several modern dance companies in New York and the San Francisco/Bay Area.

 Terese has the equitant of a Bachelor in Dance Education from the Norwegian Ballet College and studied at the Alvin Ailey School and Peridance Center in NY. After moving to the San Francisco/Bay Area, she continued her dance training with Joan Lazarus at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley and Augusta Moore at ODC Studio in San Francisco. She was Program Director and Ballet Mistress at California Theatre Arts in Walnut Creek, taught at the ODC School in San Francisco and Conservatory of Classical Ballet in San Leandro.
